The National Portrait Gallery welcomes Mariano Vivanco into its recent acquisition collection with a beautiful shot of the famous Lily Cole - retouched by none other than our very own Jackie Williams. The image taken from Mariano’s 2008 book Ninety Five Chapel Market depicts a very young Lily in Vivanco’s first London flat.
A selection of Mariano’s earliest work, the book features many innocent fresh-faced models who chose to sit for test shots in Mariano's small apartment. Post production for the entire publication was managed by Jackie Williams of Happy Finish.
“Mariano wanted the images to retain their natural and innocent feel and this particular image of Lily achieves this,” explains Jackie. “Mariano chose to retain the frame from the scanned negatives as it gives the picture a sense of authenticity, which adds a real attraction to the image. Working with Mariano is always a fun and it was fantastic feeling seeing the image in the national portrait gallery.”
The portrait of Lily can be seen in room 41a of the National Portrait Gallery. 'Ninety Five Chapel Market is currently on sale with all proceeds going to the children’s charity 'St Bart’s Hospital' in London.
