Joining forces in this months CG edition of Creative Review, illustrator Andy Gilmore teams up with our very own Simon Allan to create an eye catching stag beetle headlining the issues spotlight story. Exploring the creative possibilities of CG collaborations, Andy, Solomon Vaughan, Hellovon, James Joyce, Seb Lester, Emily Forgot and 5 CG artists designed images which will be shown in their very own exhibition on the 8th of June.
"We wanted to create something that made good use of CG - and unmistakably showcased Andys signature style", explains Simon. "The object had to be something simple and easy to read, something elegant but interesting and unusual... the challenge was to create all the shapes from a small number of polygons whilst capturing as much detail as possible. Were both delighted with the result".
In addition to the leading article, Diane Smyth, deputy editor of the BJP, covers our recent Photography Isnt Dead event season in a follow up article to last years controversial piece on the death of the studio photographer. Were delighted to have been featured again, says marketing manager Nicola Petrides, who was in charge of the events. We've had an overwhelmingly positive response to PID from the entire industry, and are looking forward to keeping the debate flowing. Photography is still very much alive and kicking!
