Rainer Usselmann has had the recent pleasure of collaborating with artist Mark Leckey, winner of the 2008 Turner Prize. Leckey's latest exhibition in one of Germany's key contemporary art galleries, Daniel Buchholz Berlin, features a cheeky piece with a familiar face.
Leckey's stylized transvestite is part of his recent body of mixed-media work, which continues his exploration of witty and imaginative juxtapositions of cultural artifacts that have earned him the reputation of a playful anthropologist and interpreter.
"It was great to work with Mark, as we don't often get the opportunity to be involved with contemporary fine art projects at this level", explains Rainer, who retouched the image. "Mark was a joy to work with, he took great interest in the entire process and loved the result. His work has this ever -present sense of irony, which was great to play along with."
